About
4:00 in the morning on September 9th, Jennifer woke me up saying
she had
"pains". She never was able to tell me for sure that she was
having actual contractions, so things were a bit confusing for
awhile as I tried to measure how long it was between those "pains".
After calling the nurses on the labor & delivery floor at the
hospital a couple of times, I finally called Jennifer's doctor
at around 7:00 AM. She just said, "Go to the hospital and let
them put a monitor on Jennifer and see what's going on." So we
went! And pictured here is Jennifer in the waiting area where they put her on
the monitors and told her, "Well... you are having some very nice,
strong contractions there. Let's get you into a delivery room
just as soon as one becomes available!"
|
And
the next thing we knew, they had Jennifer in a full labor &
delivery room with the "warmer" in the corner turned on waiting
for a baby! They put her on an IV for hydration, and then they added
a cocktail of pain killers to "take the edge off." Hehehe,
that was some edge eraser... Jennifer was out like a light in
just a few
minutes and she slept soundly until the doctor arrived over an
hour later! |
Once
the doctor did arrive, however, things happened REALLY fast. We
had checked in to the hospital at 7:51 AM and the doctor arrived
around 10:30 or 11:00 AM. After she and the nurses - including
the one pictured here - got all their setup done and were ready
to go, they had Jennifer wake up and start pushing. It seemed to
me like she only pushed for about 20 or 30 minutes, and then
suddenly we had a baby!
This is Yaleana's first picture ever
taken. The nurse had taken her from Jennifer's doctor and placed
her on the warmer platform to clean her up and get her little
hand and foot prints... and to let her cry herself pink, of
course! She was one white little baby when she first popped out, hehehe. |
