The following pages are a sampling of the 330+ pictures that were taken at the "Blessing Ceremony" Jennifer and I had in General Santos City, Philippines, when I returned in October, 2002, to bring her home with me to America. For those of you unfamiliar with immigrations procedures, let me take a minute to explain a little about our process. When Jennifer and I first began our cross-cultural & trans-Pacific relationship, I began an intense study of all the rules and regulations regarding bringing her to the States. In the process I found that a fiancée could actually gain entrance much faster than a spouse. As a fiancée she could expect to receive her visa in six months or less. But if we married and filed our paperwork in the Republika ng Pilipinas, she might be delayed for up to two years! Having picked up on that little bit of information, I eventually proposed that Jennifer come here on a K1 Fiancée Visa, then marry me in the United States. She, her mother and the rest of her family agreed! But as time went by I decided that I could not just go over and bring Jennifer back without something by which her mom and family would know the sincerity of my intent. And that is how we arrived at the "Blessing Ceremony" where the pictures on the following pages were taken. This ceremony took place on October 14, 2002, in Jennifer's hometown. Her family, many of the members of the congregation from her church - Miracle Center International, and several other friends of the family gathered together with us as we expressed our mutual intent to be joined together as husband and wife for as long as we both live! And although there are no pictures of our American ceremony, we were married "again" in a civil ceremony at the Broward County Courthouse in Florida on November 25, 2002. Sam and Jessica Gonzalez, the next door neighbors at the first home Jennifer and I shared together in America and two of Jennifer's best friends here in the States, were our only witnesses at that ceremony. But, just in case anyone is curious, we DO have paperwork now!!! Okay! With all of that said, we hope you enjoy the pictures from our BIG DAY OF BLESSING in General Santos City!!! |
