Jennifer in a field of bluebonnets during her recent Texas vacation trip
Welcome back!
Since our last update on March 18, Jennifer has taken a little two week vacation to get out of the house for awhile.
She went up to Texas to visit my family and spent some time with my mom, my grandmother and my sister. The picture
above was taken by my mom, with Jennifer surrounded by a field of bluebonnets, the State Flower of Texas. While I
appreciate the beautiful new picture of my beloved Pie, I can assure you that I don't think we'll be taking any more
separate vacations in the months and years to come. I MISSED HER!!!
Anyway, she's back home now and it's time to get back to the business of Baby Gaylor! My sister, Cathy, registered
Jennifer at the BabyCenter.com website while she was there, and today she received an email note from them with the
following information...
Hello, Jennifer!
You're 20 weeks pregnant. This week you officially begin your fifth month of pregnancy. Your baby now
weighs about 8 ounces.

The baby is steadily gaining weight to stay warm after birth. A whitish coat of a slick, fatty substance called vernix
caseosa begins to enshroud your baby and protects the skin during its long immersion in amniotic fluid. It also eases
delivery. The baby's swallowing more this week, good practice for the digestive system. After your baby takes in amniotic
fluid, his body absorbs the water in the liquid and moves the rest into the large bowel.
If you have an ultrasound, you might see him sucking his thumb. By the end of this month your baby will be about 11
inches long and weigh about a pound.
Well, now, we will be having that ultrasound in about a week and a half, on Monday, May 3rd!! So we'll
be sure to watch for any of that thumb-sucking action, but much more importantly, we will also be looking for that little
"innie" or "outie" thingy! So be sure to check back sometime during the week of May 3rd, when we hope
to be able to tell you whether we are having a cruisin' and bruisin' little Rodney Jr, or a sweet little Baby Jen Jenay,
hehehe.
Either way, we'll see you then! God Bless You!!
