New year's day is also my beautiful wife's birthday.  She had been telling me for weeks that she did not want any kind of birthday party whatsoever.  And being the kind-hearted husband I am, I did not force one on her.  But we do have some very good friends, from the Calvary Chapel church we attend, who also just happened to be having a New Year's Day get together in their home.  I let the birthday information "slip out" sometime early in the day, and Jennifer had the whole crowd singing Happy Birthday for her after all.
And then there was a great feast.  On the way home that day, Jen told me that she was really happy that everyone had sung for her even though it wasn't her party.  It was a happy birthday, and her first of many to come in America!!
